How ApplyConnect Works

Getting started with ApplyConnect tenant screening can be accomplished in just three steps!

Create Your Account

Simply complete a quick form and create an account! After filling out the short registration form and having your identity verified by Experian, you’re good to go. Not only is this process something that can be completed quickly, but it’s also free.

Invite Your Applicants

After creating an account the applicant will then purchase their own report (want to pay for the report? You can!), and give consent for it to be shared with you, creating a win-win scenario! Their credit score is unaffected because they shared it with you, and you have more money in your pockets. Win win!

View, Print, and Fill That Vacancy

ApplyConnect reports are processed within a matter of seconds after the applicant has paid. You’ll receive an email alert when the report is available, and can be viewed easily from your account dashboard. Now you have all the tenant information you need to make an informed decision.

Do You Know the Facts about Tenant Background Checks?

Find out if you know the truth behind these common criminal history data myths.

MYTH

A Criminal Conviction can be used Against an Applicant Forever.

FACT

A growing number of states have limitations on criminal convictions. Typically, criminal convictions are reported for 7 years, starting from the date of conviction. However, certain crimes (like registered sex offenders) can be included beyond 7 years.

MYTH

All Criminal Records have the Same Type of Data.

FACT

Each jurisdiction controls what data is stored, and how much (if any) they’ll provide to screening companies. The type of records returned may vary by jurisdiction, which come from police and sheriff agencies (arrests), wants and warrants, convictions and appeals from the court (county, state, federal, & military), jails and prisons, and more.

MYTH

It’s a Traffic Ticket, not a Criminal Offense!

FACT

Although traffic tickets may seem insignificant based on how common it is to receive a ticket, the law is the law. If a law was not broken, a citation (infraction) wouldn’t have been issued in the first place. Many counties’ databases include them with misdemeanors and felonies.

MYTH

I Can’t use Criminal Records because there is Too Much Liability.

FACT

If legally permitted (mobile home parks commonly have restrictions), you can and should use them in your decision process. So long as the records you receive are verified and are within the legal reporting period, it’s a great method to keep your rental properties safe.
