What You Need to Know About Attracting Renters After The Pandemic

The world is opening up again! People were encouraged by the return of normal celebrations for the Fourth of July and Dr. Fauci has even stated that those in a high vaccinated area who are vaccinated can leave their masks at home. The question is this: now that we have lived through a pandemic and a good fourteen months of intense quarantine, how do you appeal to renters?

Online Rent Payments

If you were one of the many landlords who only started accepting virtual rents it’s a good idea to keep that around. Services like our partner PayRent helps renters feel more secure in their payments. Checks can be stolen which can lead to a host of problem besides late payments. Meanwhile PayRent allows automatic payments so your renters don’t have to think about it or schedule time in their day to get checks or cash and deliver a payment. Alongside that, PayRent has bank level encryption services to provide safe deposits. Renters who have used online rent services before are very reluctant to go back to the way that was and lose that convenience, so consider keeping it around even now.

Staging an Office Set Up

So many people realized their capability to work from home in 2020.  Despite initial reluctance, people took to their jammies, said goodbye to traffic and picked up the Slack (™) to show they’re just as useful without leaving their home. When it comes to staging the rental for viewings, consider having a ‘home office’ set up for people to see. For those newly addicted to working from home, an office is a big plus. When advertising, show off aspects of the property that work well for a home office. Maybe it has good light that shows off what could be a very professional background. Or perhaps the door shuts out a good amount of noise. Show off what could be a comfortable home office for your future renters, and the young professionals will happily take a gander.

Fast Internet

Many landlords do not provide internet access, and that’s fine! Due to the digital divide, internet or even computer access is a luxury. However, for those who can afford a computer and require decent internet services there is something pretty important that they need to know. Does Comcast, Xfinity, Spectrum or whoever is in your area actually offer fast internet to your specific property address? If so, what speeds are they offering?

Fast internet is a huge selling point that tips an okay property into the must haves. Once you find out that gigabit speed, it is worth putting onto your advertisements.

With the pandemic sort of coming to a close and the summer in full swing, people are moving again. They’re just not the same renters that were moving before, and need new things to inspire them to move to your specific neck of the woods. Working with the new normal is different and may require a specific perspective to get them to come to you.
